Maximus Primal beat Drake Styles by DQ
The show began as usual with event host Mr. Hollywood to present this evenings card. He informed us that he had "good news" and "bad news". The good news was that they have a solid set of matches for this event. (Ok.....the bad news???) Well, Mr. Hollywood announced that Mr. Know-It-All was now officially his co-host for the event. Now, I know I said I would make my reports in a non-opinionated manner, but Mr. Know-It-All, was definitely not pulling his weight as co-host, due to constantly being distracted with his cell phone, which was ticking off Mr. Hollywood in a big way. Yeah, it was very annoying to me too - I cannot stand cell phone fanatics!! I hope Mr. Know-It-All gets nailed under the new hands free device while driving law! (Then again, he'll probably just bribe his way out of it.......)
1st match: Jae Rukin vs Jaguar
Well, for at least 3/4 of this match, I have to say that Jae Rukin certainly used his head.....he constantly kept his opponent, Jaguar, dazed and confused with multiple head-butt attacks. Where he stopped "using his head" was by letting the heckling fans get to him, and he began using humiliating tactics such as giving boot rubs to the face. These tactics only served to infuriate Jaguar into bouncing back with a burst of energy in a consistent series of attacks that Rukin was unable to counter, and pinned Rukin after a spectacular flying drop-kick.
Before the 2nd match was underway, CIC: Capital Investment Corporation consisting of Proff. Adib Monsour and his nephews, The Twin Terrors: Koko and Razz Monsour appeared on the video screen with 2 messages for the fans - that "money is thicker than blood".....and that the fans did not deserve to see Adib's "beautiful face", therefore he will wear a mask for his match against Crusher Kline. (for those that didn't attend the Jan. 30 event, Adib made the same declaration about wearing a mask for his match vs Maximus Primal, when a switcheroo substitute wearing same mask and outfit turned out to be Drake Styles)
2nd match: Frank The Beast Bradley vs The Bee Machine
One thing for sure in this match, both wrestlers have fitting names - The Beast looks like a sasquatch in tattered clothing, but true to his name, is as dangerous as a wounded bear! The Bee Machine.....well, he kinda reminds me of the "Billy-Bee" character you see on jars of honey at the grocery store. Did he wrestle like a bee? Well, he consistently kept The Beast off balance by striking him with his "rear end".....seemingly stinging him. The Beast attempted to overpower his opponent but appeared overwhelmed by his opponents un-orthodox tactics, plus, the Bee Machine had massive crowd support, the kids were especially crazy about him. Ultimately, The Beast was pinned after a sunset flip from the second rope.
(At the end of this match, 2 birthday kids got to come into the ring, have their pictures taken with The Bee Machine and each received a free Big Time Pro Wrestling T-shirt, autographed by the entire roster.)
(Before the next match was underway, Tray's manager, Mr. Know-It-All gave a recap of the last event in which he was able to acquire Dave Titan as his own personal property by "manipulating" him into signing a contract, but, was happy to announce that because of Titan's failure to fulfill his contractual obligations, that he was suspended indefinitely.)
3rd match: Tray Hugh Mongous vs The Rush
Well, I have to say, The Rush has got to be Tray's most relentless opponent so far, a powerful wrestler in his own right, he still gave away a lot of mass to his much larger opponent. The Rush seemed hell-bent on making a name for himself by taking out Tray by trying to overpower him, attempting to do some kind of double underhook...something, also attempting to bodyslam Tray to no avail. The Rush's attack was thwarted many times, but persistence pays off as Rush was able to take down Tray with moves such as a flying forearm strike, and a DDT. Tray was actually weakened to the point that Rush was finally able to bodyslam Tray, and attempted to mount an attack from the top rope. But, I think The Rush was caught off-guard by how surprisingly quick Tray is for his size, as Tray was able to quickly grab the ropes and make Rush slip and hurt his groin area, and eventually squashed Rush with a corner slingshot splash.
4th match: Reggie Marley vs Razz Monsour
I'm still having a tough time telling the difference between the Mansour twins by physical appearance, but I'm starting to believe that Razz is the biggest whiner and complainer of the 2 as he kept complaining and accusing Reggie of hair pulling, throughout the entire match. Reggie maintained the upper-hand for the 1st half of the match, but in a surprise turn of events, Razz was able to turn the momentum of the match in his favour in a slick and totally legal manoeuvre by bouncing off the ropes, baseball slide between Marley's legs and catching him with an upper-cut sucker punch. Razz maintained a brief advantage, then the advantage kept going consistently back and forth, until an abrupt end came when Reggie took Razz by surprise with a roll-up and got the pin.
(Before the next match was underway, the RE Championship belt was displayed and fans were informed that a tournament will be held this September to determine the RE Champion. The fans will get to decide who enters the tournament by entering thier votes at RE's website at http://ragewrestling.net)
5th match: Pierre Khourey vs EZE Eric Cairnie
It seems that tonight is the night for guys trying to make a name for themselves, as newcomer EZE, despite being a fan favourite, made a rather boastful statement that he was going to make Khourey tap out. Khourey made it quite clear that this was going to be no "EZ" task, demonstrating his strength advantage by holding EZE up for an extended time in a vertical suplex, and blocking a sunset flip attempt by power walking his way to the ropes. Eventually, EZE changed strategy, using his larger and stronger opponent's momentum against him, unfortunately, he missed an elbow drop from the top rope and Khourey capitalized by finishing him with a gutwrench powerbomb.
6th match: Koko Mansour vs The Real JJB
Not a lucky night for the Mansours so far, Koko was being out-manoeuvred by his slightly more agile opponent JJB, and just when it appeared the tide had turned for Koko, the match was called to an abrupt end after Koko splashed JJB in the corner and the rope got unhooked from the post. Referee Alex Hatfield attempted to re-hook it himself, but when even the ring crew had difficulty getting it back on while the match was on, Alex called an end to the bout and declared the match a no-contest for safety reasons. Not surprisingly, Koko did not accept the referee's decision and kept up a post match attack on his opponent. Much to the fans delight though, JJB was able to rally back and put down Koko with a leg-drop bulldog.
(At the end of this match, it was announced that there will be a draw at the next show on May 8th, for 4 tickets to the WWE Smackdown taping, May 18, at Scotiabank Place, Ottawa, Ont.)
7th match: Crusher Kline vs Proff. Adib Monsour
Wow! How dumb do the Mansours think the fans are? We all know that Uncle Adib is taller and huskier than his twin nephews, here comes a guy dressed in Adib's ring attire and mask - who was obviously smaller than the twins. Well, if they didn't fool the fans, they certainly didn't fool Crusher, who declared that regardless who was in that mask and costume, was going to get a severe beating. (A last minute decision was made to make this match a NO DISQUALIFICATION match) Other signs that made it obvious it wasn't Adib, whoever it was, was either unable, or unwilling to mount a defence at the severe beating he was getting at the hands of Crusher. Not only that, the Monsour twins made no attempt whatsoever to interfere on behalf of their stricken "uncle", in fact, they were practically falling all over themselves laughing at their "uncle's" inevitable demise!
When it came to the point that Adib's impostor was totally defenceless, Crusher decided to remove the mask to see who this inposter was. But, before Crusher was able to fully remove the mask, the real Adib appeared on the video screen and informed Crusher that he was in fact beating up one of his own students! The imposter turned out to be recently graduated student - Derric Hamilton. Just about when fans were wondering if Derric could have done this for a cash reward, Adib revealed that they FORCED Derric into this by holding his partner, Cecil Nyx, as a hostage. While Crusher was watching the video screen, Adib stormed the ring, attacked Crusher from behind, applied a DDT, got the pin, and Adib was declared the winner on the account of the no DQ rules.
Fortunately for Derric, Crusher held no hard feelings, in fact was proud of the fact that Derric did this to protect his partner and friend. At Derric and Cecil's request, Crusher granted a tag team match against the Monsour Twins at the next event on May 8.
8th match: Maximus Primal vs Drake Styles
As I watched Drake make his entrance with Mr. Know-It-All, dressed in a long flowing robe and wearing shades with a totally arrogant attitude, I an hoping that Maximus realizes that there is little chance that Drake will change the path he has chosen to follow. Maximus made his usual ring entrance, taking off his battle armour and paying respect to the crowd on all sides of the ring, but was blind-sided by Drake even before the bell rang. It appeared that Drake's strategy was to wear down his opponent by using illegal choking every chance he could get, legal nerve holds at other times, and Mr. Know-It-All choking Maximus with the strap on his "man-purse" any time the ref wasn't looking. When it appeared that Maximus was sufficiently worn down, Drake splashed him with a split-legged moonsault, but didn't get the 3-count, so he basically went back to the same strategy. Once more Drake attempted the same finisher, but Maximus brought up his knees at the last second, and this time it was Drake who was in trouble as Maximus powered back and gained the advantage. Maximus weakened Drake with a series of vicious forearm strikes and clotheslines, the only thing saving Drake from certain defeat was interference on behalf of his manager. It appears that once again though, that Maximus' temperment was getting the best of him as all he wanted to do was to get his hands on Mr. Know-It-All, and once he did, Know-It-All dropped his "man-purse", which was obviously loaded as Drake knocked out Maximus with a blow of the purse. Luckily however, referee Alex Hatfield saw what happened and awarded the match to Maximus by disqualifying Drake, who avenged his loss by clocking the ref with the loaded purse.
At this point, Tray Hugh Mongous stormed the ring and attacked Maximus, who powered right back up after a failed corner slingshot splash, and in his fury, Maximus found the strength to suplex his much larger adversary. As a result of this, a match has been made between Maximus Primal vs Tray Hugh Mongous for the next event on May 8.
(At the end of the show, a small kid with facepaint was chosen as "Fanatical Fan of The Night")
My predictions for next show?
I believe that Derric and Cecil are way too green to be able to score a clean victory over their much more experienced and stronger opponents, Koko and Razz Monsour, and who knows what role their Uncle Adib have to play in this? I am pretty sure though that Crusher knows the situation his students are in, and will have their back covered.
I am wondering what direction will the feud between Maximus and his brother Drake will go, as Maximus seems to have turned his focus towards his new nemesis, Tray Hugh Mongous? Obviously, a disqualification victory will hardly suffice to end this bad blood between the 2 brothers, all I can say is watch your back Maximus!
