Not to compare RE with other wrestling feds, but one thing I have noticed is a trend to start and end the shows earlier (7:00 PM - 9:00 PM) than the usual 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM. This has obvious benefits to parents with young children. In my case, my kids are all grown up and have kids of their own, so how does this benefit me? Well, for me to go to wrestling, that means leaving my wife at home - she's not too crazy about wrestling, in return, my wife has another interest that I don't care for either - BINGO!

For any of you guys that are in the same boat - I found the perfect solution - just upstairs from the wrestling at the Rideau Carleton Entertainment Center - there is a BINGO that coincides with the wrestling event (this BINGO from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM is consistent with BINGO places across the city) - so there you go, no more guilt trips that the wife is at home with nothing to do while you're at the RE wrestling show!

This show started out as usual with Mr. Hollywood , the event host, attempting introductions, and having problems with his co-host, Mr. Know-It-All, delaying his ring entrance for one reason or another - last time he was being gabby on his cell phone, this time, he was waiting for a proper introduction - he ended up settling for an introduction from the DJ, who had questionable mic skills. As usual, they did a recap of the previous show and discussed tonight's card, as well as the latest happenings in RE, such as a poll that is happening at the RE website - where the fans get to choose the 5 top contenders for a tournament this September for the RE Championship. Mr. know-It-All seemed to have a huge problem with the fans determining contender ship for the title - figuring that champions shouldn't be chosen as the result of a popularity contest.

Well Mr. Know-It-All, last time I checked the polls, the fans seem to be doing a pretty good job of determining the top 5 contenders, and couldn't help but notice that one of your boys, possibly the most hated wrestler in RE - Drake Styles is one of those top 5.

1st Match: Jaguar vs Pierre Khourey

Although this match was placed at the bottom of the card - there was a lot more at stake in this match than anyone realizes. For one, both Khourey and Jaguar made their RE debut on the same date. Jaguar won on his debut, Khourey lost on his. At the next event following their debut, Jaguar won his match, and Khourey won his match as well. So what was at stake here? If Khourey won, not only would he prevent Jaguar from having an unbeaten streak, it would also even up the win/loss record between both competitors.

My observations between this match and other matches these competitors have been in, Pierre Khourey relies on pure power, and Jaguar relies on perfectly timed and well executed aerial tactics, such as one of the most graceful flying body presses I have seen live, but I ponder the wisdom of relying on one of wrestling's oldest and well known aerial tactic - the flying drop-kick, as a finisher. Sure enough, the drop-kick failed, Khourey was ready for it, and seized the momentum for a good portion of the match. Just out of nowhere though, Jaguar nailed Khourey with the flying drop-kick once again and got the pin, not only establishing an unbeaten streak, but proving that it's not the choice of finisher that counts (Jaguar was recieving criticism on the choice of a flying drop-kick as a finisher) it's all about timing and the perfection of the finisher.

(Crusher Kline came to the ring to make his special announcement - for one, that there would be 2 draws for a pair of tickets to WWE Smackdown, May 18 at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa. He then told the crowd that wasn't the real announcement, his real announcement was that on June 26, Rage Entertainment has a FREE show, and encouraged all Ottawa fans to attend and invite their families and friends as well.)

2nd match: The Twin Terrors: Koko & Razz Mansour vs The Young Guns: Derric Hamilton & Cecil Nyx

Now here was a match that definitely had a lot at stake - mainly REVENGE. At the last event, Cecil Nyx was taken hostage while Derric was forced to wrestle in a disguise and mask as a "fake" Adib Monsour against his furious, mountain of-a-man teacher, Crusher Kline, and recieved a hell of a beating in the process. And what could be at stake for the Mansour twins? Was this not an obvious mis-match against such a comparatively inexperienced tag team? Well, there's always what I call the "would if" factor. Would if the Mansours lost? Would Uncle Adib disown them from the family and delete them from the will?

Well, the way I saw it, the pressure must have really on the Monsours cause really, Derric and Cecil really had nothing to lose (except their careers, which for all purposes, hasn't really been established) and the Monsours were not doing as well against their less experienced opponents as thought. Eventually the Monsours got thier stuff together and used smart tag tactics such as cutting Cecil off from his partner for a portion of the match. Cecil's resiliency caught them by surprise as he escaped a double teaming by clotheslining both Monsours simultaneously and tagging his partner Derric who came in "a house of fire". This is where I believe the more inexperienced tag-team made a fatal mistake by speeding up the pace of the match way too much for their experience level as Cecil was caught in a double team tactic using surfboard hold and double foot stomp from the top rope, and pinned by one of the Monsours. (Not even going to try to determine whether it was either Koko or Razz!)

Looks like the Monsours were not satisfied with a mere victory as there were several embarassing moments during this match, so they began a postmatch beating on Derric and Cecil. Luckily, before too much damage was done, a team of at least 5 security guys managed to clear the ring. One of the security guys who took the mic, was getting pretty well known to fans - professional strongman Yves Drouin identified himself and the rest of the security team and himself as present students of Bodyslammers Gym. Yves declared that he and the other students shared a common interest with the newly graduated students - Derric and Cecil, and that Bodyslammer students will always stand up for one another.

3rd match: Aliah Bowers vs The Bee Machine

OK, this is not good, special referee for this bout is Frank The Beast Bradley. (So what?) What do you mean so what? Frank The Beast Bradley, a long time wrestler for RE, lost at the last event against the debuting Bee Machine, and he's expected to bee impartial? (pardon the pun) Well, Frank was going to be impartial, he said so himself. Anyways, one thing Aliah and Bee Machine shared in common was that this was their second match at RE, both still in the process of trying to make a name for themselves. And if there's one thing Aliah shares in common with Bee machine's last opponent is that Aliah is just as savage and brutal.

Bee machine took the initiative with a monkey flip, then grabbing Aliah's arms, pulling up Aliah and banging his head into Bee Machine's "tail" several times. These humiliating tactics only seemed to enrage Aliah who retaliated with power moves such as spin-around Lariat and an earth-shaking sidewalk slam. Well, like the experts say, if "Plan A" doesn't work, better switch to "Plan B". And Bee Machine's finisher just happens to be called "Plan Bee", which was basically a reverse piledriver. He managed to rally back from Aliah's offence, execute Plan Bee, and surprise, surprise, The Beast made the 3-count with no hesitation whatsoever.

Uh Oh....just when everyone thought that Frank The Beast was turning over a new leaf, he blindsided Bee Machine after raising his hand in victory, and took The Bee out with a spear.

4th match: Roy Stevens vs The Rush

Wow, how could I describe the theme of this match? You have an older, but well experienced battle scarred lion against a younger and hungrier lion. Well, some may have referred to Roy as a cowardly lion as he seemingly wanted nothing to do with the extremely fast paced match that Rush was determined to set, seemingly overwhelming Roy as he started criss-crossing the ropes. But, these were the "cat and the mouse" tactics of the more experienced lion as he tricked Rush into chasing him around the ring and suddenly pouncing on his prey by turning around and downing Rush with a brutal and sudden clothesline.

Roy did enjoy a brief advantage but there was something he didn't count on. His younger and quicker opponent was alot more experienced than he thought, as young as Rush is, he's been around for awhile. Rush suddenly turned the tide using veteran tactics such as catching Roy in the face with a knee after an attempted back body drop. And furthermore, when Roy attempted his finisher- a chokeslam, Rush managed to block it, turn things around by rolling up Roy into a pin.

Without sounding too opinionated, I have to say that this match of 2 totally contrasting styles turned out a heck of a lot better than I thought it would be.

5th match: Drake Styles (with Mr. Know-It-All) vs a Mystery Opponent

It was kind of ironic that as Mr. Know-It-All was parading around with his acquisition Drake Styles, dressed in a flowing robe and dark shades, some fan yelled "Nature-Boy Wanna-Be", that Mr. Know-It-All took the mic and insisted that Drake is now to be referred to as: "The Supreme Superstar: Drake Styles". Mr. Know-It-All also proclaimed that he was able to hand pick this mystery opponent for Drake, and chose an extremely tough, suitable opponent for his superstar. And here was this so-called tough opponent .....Crimson "X"????? Well to the average fan, they weren't too impressed at the prospect of Crimson being a "tough" opponent based on the obvious size difference - but to the more experienced fans like myself, size is not a factor, problem is, to the experienced fans who have seem Crimson in action elsewhere, his win/loss record is certainly nothing to brag about.

At the beginning, Drake basically toyed around with his apparent "joke" of an opponent, but, Crimson ended up giving Drake more than he bargained for, using smart tactics such as stomping on his opponents toe, causing him to lift his foot, making a much larger opponent easier to take off his feet with an elbow strike. Crimson kept his larger opponent off balance using similar smart tactics, until he made a timing error as Drake caught him off the ropes, slamming him to the mat, then pulling him towards the corner and splashing him with a split-legged moonsault. Drake could have got the pin, but he lifted Crimson's shoulders off the mat before the 3 count, lifted him to his feet, and taking him out with a superkick, and mercifully pinning him.

6th match: Adib Monsour vs The Real JJB

It is safe to say, that Adib Monsour is one of the prominent most hated wrestlers in RE (the other being Drake Styles) he can draw a lot of heat without really doing much, but, we can usually count on the fact that Adib is always up to something or has something to say. He was still gloating about his hostage taking incident at the last event, and how he tricked Crusher Kline into beating up one of his own students. He enjoyed watching that so much that he wanted to beat up a bodyslammer student himself, and issued a challenge to any bodyslammer student. Not surprisingly, fans were chanting for Yves to take up the challenge, but that will have to wait as Adib's opponent was already set, none other than JJB.

If Prof. Adib Monsour is one of the most hated, JJB is certainly one of the more popular, has had great success at RE, defeating opponents such as Eddie Osbourne and Roy Stevens, but has had bad luck with the Mansour family. Twice he has fought Koko, losing one, and the unfortunate incident at the last event of tthe match being declared a no-contest due to ring malfunction. Surely he must have been thinking that a victory over the senior member of that family would make up for a loss and a tie.

The crowd was really into this match, as Adib seemed extra-sensitive to the chants for JJB - JJB - JJB, constantly blocking his ears and annoying the crowd with stalling tactics, using every trick in the book to avoid the fast-paced, high agility attack that JJB was trying to set. When it appeared that Adib was unable to keep up, he backed right down into the corner calling for a "time-out". This caused one moments hesitation too much on JJB's behalf as Adib capitalised by grabbing JJB and pulling his face into the turnbuckle. Adib was finally able to set his own pace for the match - a slow but methodical attack, but eventually, perhaps too slow as JJB was able to avoid an elbow drop, then a leg drop, turning the match into his favour. But, the advantage was short-lived as the Monsour twins came to ringside, luring the referee's attention away from the match. While both the ref and JJB were distracted by the twins, Adib took the gold chain that he "conveniently" hung around the post for "safe-keeping", wrapped it around his fist and clocking JJB. Adib followed up with a leg-drop, presumably to make his victory look more legit.

(a draw for the last pair of tickets to Smackdown were drawn, then a fanatic of the night contest was drawn, the winner got a DVD, an Rage Entertainment T-shirt, and an 8 X 10 photo of Crusher Kline)

Main Event: Maximus Primal vs Thunder (with Mr. Know-It-All)

At the last event, Tray Hugh Mongous interfered on behalf of Drake Styles, resulting in an unsatisfactory disqualification victory for Maximus, who was so furious, he turned away his focus from his feud with his brother and insisted on a match against Tray at this event. Like I said on my last report, the feud between Drake and Maximus is far from over, hopefully Maximus is watching his back and expecting the unexpected.

Mr. Know-It-All made his entrance, and instead of co-hosting with Mr. Hollywood, he basically took over as event host. He announced that he was so pleased with his protege, Tray Hugh Mongous, that he decided to give him a vacation. So, in place of Tray, Maximus' opponent for tonight would be the other half of team T & T - THUNDER!

I believe most of the fans expected to see a good hard-hitting match, but it was kind of agitating to see how a guy as big as Thunder was using mostly dirty tactics such as repeatedly choking, and letting go at the count of 5, plus eye rakes and doing a rope burn to the eyes, to keep up the advantage against Maximus. Before long though, Maximus came out with a "dirty trick" of his own, stomping on the foot of Thunder, and downing him with a huge Lariat. He enjoyed a brief advantage over Thunder until he got splashed in the corner. Thunder attempted a second splash in the corner, but Maximus had his wits about him enough to move out of the way, and then took Thunder down with a shoulder tackle. It looked like victory was a sure thing for Maximus as he took down Thunder with his secondary finisher, a double kneeplant to the chest (Codebreaker), but, as usual, Mr. Know-It-All did what he does best, distracting the ref. While Maximus was attempting once again to get his hands on Mr. know-It-All, with the ref caught in between, Thunder splashed both the ref and Maximus in the corner.

With the ref "out-to-lunch", opportunity arose, just as I feared, Drake Styles stormed the ring, while Thunder held Maximus from behind. Drake attempted to super-kick his brother, who ducked just in time. Thunder recieved the full force of that super-kick and was totally KOed! Drake and Know-It-All were so beside themselves over this huge error, they weren't paying attention to the ref coming to, just in time to count the pin for Maximus Primal.

After the match, Maximus took the mic, and what he said made sense on why he seemed to shift his focus from his feud with his brother over to members of Know-It-All's stable. It was actually quite simple....Maximus blamed Know-It-All entirely for turning his brother against him - and that from here on, he would be happy even if he obtained only one of 2 goals, one...that he would become the RE Champion, and two...to take Know-It-All's business apart piece by piece by destroying his wrestlers one by one.

Afterthoughts and thoughts for next show:

This show had a pretty good turn-out, leading me to wonder what the turnout will be like with the FREE show June 26 - I'm really hoping that they won't be too swamped and have to turn people away.

Will Jaguar continue his unbeaten streak using the flying drop-kick as a finisher?

Do we see a feud between Frank The Beast Bradley and The Bee Machine in the making?

Will JJB's streak of bad luck with the Monsour family continue?

Should Tray Hugh Mongous consider taking an extended vacation to avoid the fury of Maximus Primal?

Wonder who who will be "The Supreme Superstar" Drake Styles' next "tough" opponent?

Will Crimson "X" attempt to do the impossible by actually winning a match?

We'll soon find out June 26!
